The South Korean automaker, Hyundai expects to use the holding of the Auto Show in New York to reveal the variation in hybrid of its newest sedan Sonata 2011.

Although little information currently circulating on the technical data of the latter, one learns all the same hybrid as proposed, will include a four-cylinder 2.4-liter direct injection with a power of 198 horses and a torque of 184 lb-ft. Combined with an electric motor 30 kW. All mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Lithium-polymer

Unlike the current manufacturers that use lithium-ion batteries to nickel, Hyundai will be the first of them to trust the technology of lithium-polymer. An approach currently advocated by researchers TM4 Hydro-Quebec.

According to the manufacturer, these batteries take up less space while providing additional energy to the vehicle, in addition to durability, which is valued at 20 times that of lithium-ion batteries, currently used in the industry.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue Drive

This will be his name, once marketed in America. By any chance, it would normally be found in showrooms during this year.
