The Opel Calibra is back! Hot on the heels of our news that Ford Capri is a revival as the Focus Coupé-base is the confirmation that Vauxhall is a successor to the popular two-door nineties to create.
"I think we should have one, so we have one," GM Europe chief Nick Reilly Auto Express said. As head of a total of Vauxhall and Opel, Reilly has the final say about what goes into production.
He referred to the GTC (Gran Turismo Concept) Coupé at the Geneva Motor Show unveiled in 2007 as an inspiration and said, ". It is precisely this kind of car" The concept was on the Insignia, which is expected to form the basis for the new sports machine.
The AGB could by a 2.8-liter V6 turbo, and the VXR version of the production vehicle based on the 320bhp of the hottest Insignia to create a cheap version of the Audi S5 Coupe driven.
However, it is assumed that the smaller, especially turbocharged units offer an attractive business and power mixed with Vauxhall forthcoming series of all-new direct-injection gasoline engines that, according to Reilly, provide economic savings of "at least 10 to 15 percent."
The Calibra had a large following, with 250,000 sold worldwide before it was canceled in 1997. And again is the top spec-Version of the four-seater probably come with all-wheel drive.
Reilly also showed that Vauxhall is planning to use the name as Ampera sub-brand to expand the number of extended-range battery-powered vehicles. "We are looking at other body styles, including a small Astra-sized car and a larger," he said.
With the same electric powertrain with the 1.4-liter generator, would support the new Ampera family models to the second generation of the Chevrolet Volt in the U.S.. The MkI start in Britain in 2012 and the sale of the MkII could begin as soon as 12 months later. In addition, the replacement would be far cheaper Ampera, after Reilly. "We are a 50 percent reduction in the cost of electrification of the car, including batteries to see," he said.
This would bring the Ampera down about 5,000 - £ 7,000 more than a gasoline or diesel equivalent, at about £ 27,000. The original European model will be priced at £ 36,500.

New Agila arrives at showrooms in April
Low emissions and an affordable price tag mean Vauxhall’s New Agila is set to be hot in the city when it arrives in showrooms in April. Available to order from early next year, the compact but flexible newcomer benefits from tax-busting CO2 figures of just 120g/km on both the entry-level petrol and diesel engines, meaning it will fall into VED Band B – the cost of a tax disc being just £35 a year!
Adding to its affordability, Agila will cost from only £7,595 when it arrives. Three trim levels will be on offer, all with impressive levels of standard equipment, plus the added advantage of the car’s incredibly versatile interior layout.
Small enough to be manoeuvrable into tight parking spaces, but with five doors and five full-size seats with three-point belts as standard, Agila benefits from enough luggage space to rival cars in the class above, providing plenty of room for the busiest of lifestyles.
The clever design allows for plenty of storage space inside and the tall roofline provides an airy, spacious feel. It also allows a high seating position, making it easy to get in and out of the Agila and ensure good visibility even in heavy urban traffic.
For those occasions when owners need to carry furniture rather than friends, the rear seat backs can be folded down to create a completely flat load floor on all but the entry-level model. In total the new Agila has a luggage capacity of 1050 litres – among the best in this sector.
To complement the dynamic looks and all-new chassis, the Agila will offer three new engines and an automatic gearbox will be available for the first time. Petrol units include a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit developing 65PS and an 85PS 1.2, the latter of which will be available with optional automatic transmission. Vauxhall’s award-winning 1.3CDTi diesel will also be on offer, delivering excellent performance from its 75PS while sipping fuel.
